Why do you need a study of daily urine?

Usually, in order to monitor the health of the expectant mother and diagnose possible diseases, a clinical urine test is performed, collected in the morning.

However, if a woman is suspected of having dysfunctions of the internal organs, in which control of diuresis (the volume of urine excreted in a certain time) or biochemical parameters of urine is required, a study of daily urine is prescribed.

The most common specific tests are:

• determination of daily diuresis - it is recommended if the expectant mother has edema, the analysis allows you to assess the amount of fluid that is retained in the female body;

• glucouric profile - is assigned when a high concentration of glucose is detected in the general analysis of urine;

• determination of the concentration of such an important biochemical indicator as total protein, the value of which allows the doctor to evaluate the functional activity of the internal organs and systems of the expectant mother.

• All of the above studies are necessary for a comprehensive examination of pregnant women with various pathologies of internal organs and systems.

• As with the collection of biological fluid for general analysis, there are also clear requirements for the daily study of urine, non-compliance with which will lead to inaccurate totals and, accordingly, to an incorrect diagnosis.

• That is why, on the eve of collecting urine, a woman needs to:

• prepare a container for the biomaterial - it can be a special container purchased at a pharmacy, or an ordinary large glass container that needs to be well disinfected;

• exclude from the diet salty, spicy and smoked foods, as well as foods that can affect the color of urine (carrots, rhubarb, cherries, beets).

It is better to collect biological fluid in a plastic container, you can buy it at a pharmacy chain or a medical equipment store

Special kits are available for sale, they include a container marked in liters, a container for urination and transfer of biological fluid into a large container, a urine stabilizer (20% hydrochloric acid solution) and a plastic cup for collecting biomaterial from a large container.
