Strepsils ® Tablets suck


What is it and how to use it?

Strepsils are lozenges with an antibacterial effect against germs to cause inflammation of the oral mucosa.

Strepsils is used to support the local treatment of infectious and inflammatory conditions of the oropharyngeal cavity.

What should you consider before you use it?

Generally, in case of bacterial infection, assess the need for a targeted antibacterial therapy.

During a suspected viral infection, Strepsils is not fighting the cause of the condition.

During a suspected fungal infection, treatment with an appropriate antifungal (medicine for the targeted treatment of fungal infections) is required.



Notes for diabetics: People with diabetes should consider the bread-content units as follows:

Strepsils Honey & Lemon: 0.22 units per bread-lozenge.

Strepsils Orange with vitamin C: 0.21 units per bread-lozenge.

Strepsils Strawberry Sugar Free: contains sweeteners to replace sugar and are indicated for diabetics taking account of 0.13 units per bread-lozenge.

Strepsils Honey & Lemon Strepsils orange with vitamin C because of their sugar content, the occurrence of caries can be promoted. We must therefore ensure a careful dental hygiene.

Strepsils Strawberry Sugar-free and is therefore protects teeth.

Strepsils should not be used if you are hypersensitive (allergic) to any component of Strepsils.

Because of their sugar content (glucose, sucrose [sucrose]), Strepsils Honey & Lemon Strepsils orange with vitamin C are not indicated for patients with rare hereditary problems of fructose intolerance, malabsorption of glucose- galactose or sucrase-isomaltase deficiency.

Strepsils Strawberry Sugar Free also should not be administered to patients with rare hereditary problems of fructose intolerance.

Strepsils is not indicated for children under 6 years.

During inflammation or severe pain in the throat accompanied by high fever, headache, nausea or vomiting or that last more than three days, one must have recourse to medical advice .

Strepsils Strawberry Sugar Free and Strepsils Orange with Vitamin C: patients and patients with a hypersensitivity to azo dyes, with acetylsalicylic acid and the anti-inflammatory and analgesic (prostaglandin inhibitors) should not use Strepsils Strawberry sugar free and Strepsils orange with vitamin C because of their content dyes.

Please inform your doctor, pharmacist or druggist if you have another illness, you are allergic, you are taking other medicines (bought yourself)!

As a precaution you should give as much as possible drug use during pregnancy or lactation and ask your doctor, pharmacist or druggist.

How to use it?

For the application at the oropharyngeal cavity.

Always use in accordance with Strepsils indicated on this leaflet. Please consult your doctor, pharmacist or druggist if you are not absolutely sure.

No further data from your doctor, the usual dose for adults and children over 12 years consists of: one lozenge every two to three hours to dissolve slowly in the mouth. As with all lozenges, move the lozenge in the mouth by letting it melt to avoid irritation of oral mucosa.

The daily dosage of up to 8 lozenges should not be exceeded.

Children 6 to 12 years, dissolve slowly in the mouth a lozenge every 4 hours as needed. The maximum daily dose of 4 lozenges should not be exceeded.

Do not use Strepsils more than three days without medical advice.

Strepsils is not recommended for children under 6 years.

Keep to the dosage given in the leaflet or prescribed by your doctor. If you feel that the medicine is too weak or too strong, please contact your doctor, your pharmacist or druggist.

Provided that the use is in accordance with the rules of application, can be ruled an overdose. No case is known to date.

If involuntary absorption of a large amount of Strepsils, please contact your doctor immediately.

What are the possible side effects?

Like all medicines, Strepsils can have side effects.

Gastrointestinal disorders: In very rare cases, gastrointestinal disorders such as dyspepsia and nausea.

General disorders: hypersensitivity reactions like skin rash, burning or tingling in the mouth or throat and swelling of the mouth and throat can occur occasionally.

After stopping treatment, hypersensitivity reactions generally decrease rapidly.

In case of occurrence of these events, potentially at the first application already, you should immediately seek the assistance of a doctor.

Dyes Ponceau 4R (E124) and yellow-orange (E110) contained in Strepsils Strawberry Sugar Free and Strepsils orange with vitamin C can trigger hypersensitivity reactions of the skin and respiratory organs in particular patients and patients who asthma, chronic urticaria or hypersensitivity to aspirin or other anti-inflammatory drugs and analgesics.

How should the product be stored?

The drug should not be used beyond the date indicated after "EXP" on the container.
