Penetration painful - Dyspareunia


We speak of dyspareunia when a woman experiences pain during sexual intercourse.

The causes can be numerous, and medical advice is often needed to define the origins of penetration painful.

The different causes

- Pain at first sex
At first intercourse, the rupture of the hymen can cause vaginal pain. This is very common, and in most cases does not recur during the following reports.


- Sexual intercourse without foreplay or precipitated
Sexual excitement generates a natural vaginal lubrication. If the penetration is too fast, it may be that the vagina is not moist enough, which can cause pain.


If they are recurring, such pain that occurs during penetration may have other origins.

- Vaginal Dryness
When the vagina becomes wet longer, or more than enough, intercourse becomes difficult. Penetration can become very painful, with a feeling of "tearing".
Vaginal dryness can be original:
  - Infectious: favored by the existence of vulvovaginal mycosis, for example.
  - Hormonal: after childbirth, menopause ...
  - Medication: some medications (such as some anti-histamine) can help this problem.
  - Psychological: marital problems, lack of desire, stress, fatigue ...
If none is found accurate, the lubricating gels can be used.

- Infection or condyloma
Thrush, cystitis, herpes ... so many infections that can cause local pain during intercourse. It will be essential to consult a gynecologist who offer medical tests to treat them quickly. One or genital warts (types of genital warts) may also be the cause of dyspareunia.

- Deep Dyspareunia
When pain is felt across the lower abdomen during intercourse, then it can also involve deeper causes as endometriosis, uterine fibroids, uterine retroversion ...

- Vaginismus
Vaginismus is a spasmodic contraction of the muscles of the vagina preventing intercourse. It is linked to an uncontrollable reaction almost phobic of psychological penetration.

Dialogue between the couple, interviews with a psychologist or psychotherapist can lead to a "release" fast.
